Newly released headlines from the Canary Islands has focused on volcanic activity occurring just out to sea from El Hierro, resulting in a minor and almost casual localized evacuation. However , on the other side of the island chain, Lanzarote which is every bit as volcanic, continues to be dormant and peaceful.

This definitely wasn’t the case a couple of centuries ago however, as Lanzarote was actually exposed to the longest continuous eruption in the record books, whilst its neighbors continued in blissful calm. Happily this period of seismic devastation has been taken advantage of by the islands tourist sector, with a particular dormant volcano actually being used in order to power a restaurants bbq.

Plus the most in-demand attraction, namely the volcano park at Timanfaya, showcases just how tumultuous volcanic eruptions could very well be. Wherever holiday makers look they’ll see huge craters, lava streams, rock faces that appear to be like melted wax and huge lava bombs that have been tossed through the air.

Even beyond the perimeter of Timanfaya there is a landscape just as interesting, in which the La Geria wine region makes use of even older volcanic slopes in comparison to the craters at Timanfaya. It goes without saying that the ultimate way to experience this unique region is usually by car, considering that Lanzarote car hire won’t break the bank, and you’ll be able to take full advantage of the tranquil rural roads along with the islands magnificent scenery.

The fact is that whilst Lanzarote is a superb sunshine vacation location, lying down at the edge of the pool or on one of Lanzarote’s excellent beaches isn’t the only thing holiday makers might like to do during their stay. Quite a few may decide to visit the consistently spectacular but altogether distinctive northern half of this tropical isle too.

What logically turns out to be the reality is often that two to three relaxing days making use of amenities at any one of the Lanzarote hotels is enough for quite a few tourists, who will then need a change of scene, commonly outside the resort . And for all those Lanzarote has numerous completely unique cultural attractions and places of interest to check out.

Every one of these was conceived by a local artist known as César Manrique, whose imaginative reputation scooped him plaudits in Spain and also on Lanzarote. And yet regardless of the rise in popularity of the area with English holiday-makers and the short time of Lanzarote flights, this ingenious artist truth be told continues to be virtually unknown in England.

Thankfully that scarcity of knowledge is quickly countered as travelers to Lanzarote normally become hooked by his design style and are often eager discover other examples of his work. Which can sometimes without difficulty completely transform the holiday into a mini cultural expedition of Manrique´s works and his architectural developments , rather than simply a few weeks on a sun bed.

Lanzarote, the 4th largest of the Canary Islands possesses a standing for being a leading sunshine holiday destination. This is without question well earned, because there are approximately 100 beautiful beach locations to discover here and also the weather is superb even in winter. However this climate also helps to attract a shed load of sports tourists and triathletes from all around Europe, this is especially true as soon as the celebrated Iron Man competition begins.

The Iron Man event gets underway on Lanzarote every year at the end of May and sucks in around a thousand contenders. Most of whom manage to complete the course which involves a 3km swim, a hundred and eighty km grueling bike ride and a full length marathon inside of 12 hours or so, with the front runners managing to clock in, in around 8 hours plus. The special event is so well-known that a lot of holidaymakers plan their holidays and will book Lanzarote villas primarily to coincide with Iron Man.

Lanzarote also embraces a steady flow of athletes and sports lovers throughout the year who’re all eager to take maximum advantage the warm climate for training purposes. Cyclists can be spotted on the island’s streets in packs throughout the year and most of those visitors book self catering accommodation including Playa Blanca villas or Puerto del Carmen villas while they are here.

Vacationers wanting to check out the island in far greater detail will respect the work of Manrique Cesar who sought to create a selection of exclusive sightseeing opportunities that would present a worthy replacement for the numerous golf establishments and theme parks that can be found anywhere else in Spain. For instance attractions such as the Jameos del Agua, which portrayed his wish to combine art with nature.

Having to eat out in Lanzarote is likely to be a enjoyable adventure as the dishes of Lanzarote merge simultaneously the conventional recipes of Spain, with the help of enticing African spices. Conventional rustic dishes can be found in many of the local villages and towns, and you’ll find delightful fish and shellfish bistros are commonplace in the resorts and villages along the coast. It’s also worth trying the traditional goats cheese coupled with a drop of invigorating Lanzarotean Sangria, it’s supposedly much stronger compared to the Spanish style.

From the breathtaking and beautiful scenery to the superb beaches, this undeniably is a holiday break destination that will leave you wanting more. The unforgettable allure of this warm and friendly island will certainly forever bring back good memories.

The Canary Island of Lanzarote provides tourists an abundance of activities to do and see. As there are plenty of natural attractions and beautifully sculpted marvels to discover here. Therefore it’s a great choice for anyone who loves to do more than rest in the sunshine all day.

Discovering Lanzarote’s many pleasures is affordable and uncomplicated as well as each fuel and car rental on Lanzarote are extremely inexpensive while there are also lots of guided trips designed for those who don’t want to drive a vehicle when on a well deserved break abroad.

Lanzarote features an excellent assortment of holiday accommodation which includes some lavish luxury Lanzarote holiday villas but in the event your financial position will not stretch to a villa this won’t be a snag either simply because self catering holiday apartments are generally in good supply and there’s a good variety ideally suited for big or small family groups .

Because of the large range of attractions available many visitors are in a position to split themselves away from their own hotels and Lanzarote villas, at least for a day, to enjoy all that the area has to offer. Either in their own individual rental vehicle or as part of a larger crowd for a tour with guide.

And for the majority of visitors the most important excursion on their schedule will likely be at the Timanfaya National Park, which is Lanzarote’s most commonly known visitor destination. This was originally terra formed by huge volcanic eruptions in the 18th century which produced hundreds of volcanoes covering close to 1 / 3 of the island under extensive lava fields.

It’s also possible to include Timanfaya as part of a broader grand tour of the island. This as well normally includes visits to the centres of art tradition and travel and leisure developed by the renowned nearby artist Cesar Manrique. Including breathtaking landscapes which includes Mirador Del Rio, the Cactus Garden as well as the Jameos del Agua. Along with trips on dry land there are also some very nice ocean structured activities have fun with as well. The islands also near to two other islands in the Canaries. La Graciosa to the north is usually referred to as the eighth Canary Island and may also be reached by ferry coming from the Northern port of Orzola. There are no roadways or automobiles here therefore a visit actually is similar to going back in history.

Towards the south can be found Fuerteventura, which may be reached by ferry coming from the harbour in Playa Blanca. There are plenty of top reasons to visit here – not least the astonishing 16km long sands of the Dunas National Park.

When it comes to choosing a great holiday, quite a few factors are thrown into the pot, but what’s in your ideal recipe? Would it be the warm inviting weather, spectacular cuisine or massive choice of superb sunshine beaches? The island of Lanzarote will not disappoint you because you can find all of this and more, It should be of little surprise therefore to find out that this picturesque destination ranks at the top of the charts. And one that is a real red hot favourite British guests, who descend on the island in large numbers year in year out.

So what is the secret of Lanzarote’s appeal? Many observers claim that the islands volcanoes and their ores and minerals exert some sort of magical magnetic pull on tourists. Luring them back year after year. Whether that is true or not Lanzarote – the most easterly link in the Canaries – certainly enjoys plenty of repeat guests, often reserving the same apartments and Lanzarote villas, or sometimes exploring pastures new in different locations elsewhere on the island.

Key to Lanzarote´s appeal is the weather because even in the winter season you’ll still be able to grab a towel or beach mat and head to the beach for a spot of sunbathing. Just stay out of the sea though as this is the Atlantic and not the Med in summertime. Scuba divers won’t have a problem though as they will have a nice wet or dry suit.Rainfall tend not to be a problem here though thanks to the fact that Lanzarote is located pretty close to the Sahara desert and the African coastline.

There are loads of extremely good spots to stay on the island due to the fact that travellers have been making a bee line and visiting the island for nearly fifty years. Many guests prefer to choose the seclusion and warmth of Lanzarote villas much more than hotels, principally because they also offer excellent value for money too.

So where can visitors find the best villas in Lanzarote for rent? For the best value for money accommodation head for the resort of Playa Blanca, as this is the newest resort on the island. villas here usually cost less than in the other resorts, making them a great option for anyone looking to book a break on a budget.

As summer wraps up its time to start thinking about the approaching Christmas period, but that does not signify this is all the sun we will be experiencing this year as there are some excellent sunshine destinations not to far from home including of course the Canarian island of Lanzarote, famous for its outstanding climatic conditions..

Whilst the primary attraction of a holiday here may very well be weather, do not forget to investigate the other aspects of the island too. Lanzarote also features an extraordinary and rich tapestry of local charm and culture starting from the carnival season through to the sporting events later in the year. Also on top of the many year round events , in the event of any dull or cloudy weather (which is a rarity), there are a huge number of other attraction to enjoy come rain, wind or shine. Lanzarote Tourist Attractions

If you are planning ahead for next year however do bear in mind that June is an excellent time to take your vacation as is can be considerably cheaper than the high season and it also a time when the islands most creative events takes place which is Corpus Christi.. Corpus Christi is without doubt one of the most colourful festivals that take place on the island and is celebrated by the creation of extraordinarily unique and wildly creative carpets of coloured salt which depict many of the important biblical scenes.

Whilst finding the best accommodation can be difficult in the summer months later in the seasons really opens up choice when it comes to the more popular Lanzarote holiday apartments and villas, but choosing the right accommodation always comes down to three main factors, size of party, location and of course budget. If you prefer flexibility and privacy on your holiday then a villa will prove to be ideal as apartments tend to be in complexes, and you’ll also find that many have their own pool, although you may want to check to see if this is heated if your coming in the cooler season. Please note though, it may be quieter in the winter months but don’t fall in to the trap of thinking that there will be no competition for the best ones.

Deciding where to stay comes next on the agenda of course although this may already be decided if specific accommodation has already been chosen? If friends or relatives have visited before then they may have made recommendations, but if your still unsure here are a few key questions to ask yourself. Do you want the hustle and bustle of a busy resort with plenty of night-life or do you enjoy peace and quiet?. Not everything centres around the main resorts and a little searching on the internet will reward you by exposing some of the more rural locations available which are ideal for a romantic break.

Playa Blanca villas often offer better value for money than in other resorts on the island thanks to its excellent mix of bars , restaurants and outstanding accommodation. additionally the resort is home to some spectacular stretches of sand. Such as Playa Dorada, Playa Flamingo and the small town beach of Playa Blanca – from which this destination takes its name.

Costa Teguise is a good choice too, being developed as an upmarket resort during the 1980´s – attracting well heeled tourists from Germany and Scandinavia initially. – Costa Teguise´s excellent beaches and wide open plan feel helped to establish this as the second most popular spot on the island during the 1980´s. Lanzarote tourist Information

The island of Lanzarote is often regarded as an unspoiled vacation location which continues to charm visitors year after year with the result that many return again and again.

There is nothing like a very cold spell to focus your attention on next years holiday, and the recent blankets of snow that have certainly fired up many peoples plans to start the search for next years holiday destination.

Holidays in Lanzarote are an attractive choice for families and couples regardless of age because this popular Canary Island offers great weather and wonderful beaches – as well as excellent value for money.

In the current economic climate tourists are really looking for value for money and now that the pounds has recovered some ground against the euro Lanzarote compares very favourably with most other holiday destinations around the world.

The cost of flights here is not as expensive as you would first imagine and conducting a quick search online will quickly bring up lots of cheap Lanzarote flights from many of the tour and travel companies. Accommodation is inexpensive here too and there are thousands of villas and hotels in Lanzarote where you can find well priced beds and accommodation deals (especially last minute ones). And if you´re planning on buying any souvenirs you´ll also be glad to hear that Lanzarote – like the rest of the Canaries – is a duty free zone.

It´s highly unlikely that your holiday in Lanzarote will be washed out by the weather as the sun shines here virtually very day of the year and rainfall is scarce. This is thanks to the islands location close to the West African coast so visitors can expect to soak up temperatures in the mid 20s in winter and into the mid 30´s Celsius during the summer months.

There´s an abundance of beautiful beaches on Lanzarote – close to 100 in fact, and they are nearly all made up of golden sands unlike the black and beaches commonplace elsewhere in the Canaries on islands such as Tenerife. Tourists will find great beaches in all of the main resort but for the best sands spots you have to travel further afield. You´ll need to book car hire in Lanzarote to get to the best ones and to explore the most dramatic spots yourself – such as Famara on the North West coast.

If you get bored of lazing on a sun lounger then you´ll still find that Lanzarote has loads to offer as the island offers a large amount of natural and cultural attractions. There´s a number of fascinating sights to explore here – such as the islands surreal volcanic region which was created by eruptions in the 1730´s. This whole area is now one of the most popular National Parks in Spain and should not be missed. And if that isn’t sufficiently stimulating then take in the many works of the well known local artist César Manrique, who worked with this surreal terrain to create a series of seven unique visitor attractions such as the Jameos del Agua and the Mirador Del Rio.

Visit Lanzarote for a holiday that will help you top up your tan as well as appealing to your cultural taste buds.

The Canary Islands are an excellent place to take your next vacation. This small island chain consists of seven Islands with principally three main holiday islands which are Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote. That said the other islands in the group are also well known if not as well travelled. But which island should you head for?

Tenerife is the biggest of the islands and has the biggest attraction too, Literally? The island is home to the world’s third largest volcano which dominates the islands from every point of the compass. Visitors to the island simply should not miss the opportunity to visit Mount Teide while they are here even if they only planned to laze on the beaches.

Next on our island tour is Gran Canaria or El Rondel as it was originally called. The Geography of the island is quite unique as it has a central plateau or hub and leading from this almost like the spokes of a wheel are a number of steep valleys leading toward the coast. This of course makes it ideal climbing territiory and the island has seen an explosion of climbing activity in recent years.

All of the islands to a degree (excuse the pun) share the same sub tropical climate that epitomises the west African coast. Not surprising really as it is in geographical terms only a stones throw away, but Lanzarote scores best here with year round average temperatures of circa 20º which is not to be sniffed at by any stretch of the imagination. And most of the time in the summer months you’ll find it’s usually much hotter than this. Little wonder then visitors flock back for second and even third holidays here.

Each of the resorts on the island has plenty of attractive points and a good choice of accommodation too, villas in Lanzarote though remain a firm favourite.

Costa Teguise has always been an attractive holiday hot spot and boasts wide avenues which give it a spacious open plan feel. The resort is also home to some great beaches as well not surprisingly, such as the main stretch of sand at Playa Cuchara. Ideal for the Sun sea and sand holiday.

If you manage to tear yourself away from the main holiday resorts though you’ll find that the island is full of surprises and attractions many of which lie well off the beaten track many of which are not suited to coaches, so visitors are well advised to hire a car and explore what the island has to offer, especially in the north which is still widely regarded as the true heart of Lanzarote.

Lanzarote is a well known package holiday destination but this trend is changing now a growing number of independent tourists are starting to visit the island. Attracted by its great year round climate, breathtaking beaches and stunning surreal scenery Lanzarote boasts lots of natural wonders which were created during the 18th century by some seriously large scale volcanic activity.

Tourists have been flocking to the fourth largest of the Canary Islands ever since the package holiday industry first took off in the 1970´s. And Lanzarote continues to attract millions of visitors today. Many of whom like nothing more than basking in the sun, which shines all year round here.

The island however boasts enough stunning sights to lure them away from their Lanzarote holiday villas and apartments and the stunning resort beaches to explore the island. As well as great weather all year round visitors will also find that there is a lot to do and see on the island, which helps to contribute to Lanzarote´s popularity as a holiday destination. Such as the many creations of the local artist César Manrique – who developed visitor attractions such as the Cactus Garden and the Green Caves. Along with many natural wonders such as the Valley of 1000 Palms and the majestic sight of the Timanfaya Volcano Park. Typical places and activities on many people agendas include:

The Aqua Park: Fun, fun, fun for the whole family. The park boasts an excellent selection of water slides and although None of the pools get heated as the weather is so great this is not a problem although it may be a bit cool on days that are overcast (not that there are that many). You may find yourself paying for lockers and sun beds so make sure you budget for this.

Or perhaps :

The Timanfaya National Park: Here visitors can view Mother Nature’s handiwork up close. As coaches wend their way through the Timanfaya Volcano Park seven days a week. Whilst also observing just how hot it still is just beneath the earth’s surface here. As whilst the volcanoes are all now dormant the temperatures below ground level still reach up to 400 degrees Celsius. As park wardens are only too happy to demonstrate.

If the above recommendations don’t suit your style perhaps try The Cactus Garden. Another fine example of the work of Cesar Manrique. Here he has taken a disused quarry which he used as the foundation for this particular project. The result is spectacular display reminiscent of a roman amphitheatre populated not with crowds of people but with an amazing display cacti (including one very man made one). A gentle wander around the garden is very relaxing and if part of a tour Jameos Del Agua is only down the road to

The Canary Islands have been luring travelers from all across the world for many years and particularly those from European destinations, seeing that the somewhat short journey times to this group of islands make it perfect for travellers which might be searching for a sun kissed location, yet do not always wish to spend twelve hours or much more on their trip.

One particular specific island within this delightful archipelago is actually a hidden gem patiently waiting to be discovered by visitors. It has many years been tarnished by the entirely undeserved tag of ‘Lanzagrotty’ and yet as almost any traveler to Lanzarote will certainly gladly testify, this tourist vacation spot is undoubtedly undoubtedly one-of-a-kind which results in many visitors coming back year in year out.

So what precisely makes this particular island stand out from its sister islands within the chain?

Obviously there are actually commonalities with the other islands, which could very well be unsurprising given the close proximity of the islands to each other, nonetheless any existing similarities soon fade away and whenever it comes to tourist development Lanzarote has carved out a niche of its own, as this small volcanic outcrop effectively manages to amalgamate a few of the best facets of seaside vacations with unspoiled scenery, a flamboyant and striking culture and an array of appealing attractions which are pleasing to both the young and more mature visitors to the island.

Lanzarote’s beaches are best described as beautiful, golden and of course sandy, and thanks to the islands wonderful weather conditions and year round sunshine, these tend to be enjoyed in almost virtually any season. The key places here each boast their particular share of palm fringed playas, as well as a superb range of facilities to satisfy the demands of locals and tourists alike.

Such is the popularity of the island, presently there is already an outstanding selection of short term and long-term holiday accommodation that ranges from compact but well appointed Lanzarote apartments to the considerably more roomy and of course high-class Spanish style Lanzarote villas, it typically is very seldom that you will be unable to find the kind of accommodation you are searhing for but in the high season just as you probably would expect availability really does get limited.

Should you be looking for something out of the ordinary and unusual accommodation can certainly be found, for example you can go natural and live in a holiday home created from caves in the side of a mountain or even an subterranean dwelling created from a renovated subterranean water tank.

Probably the most noteworthy house of all and one that should be on every person’s travel agenda is definitely the former home of local legend Cesar Manrique, the Lanzarote artist who has been responsible for a lot of the natural developments across the island that merge with the very fabric of the island itself.

Having located all 5 subterranean volcanic bubbles, Manrique then proceeded to rework them into his own home with simply stunning creativity and planning. Word about the uniqueness of this architectural wonder propagated rapidly, so much so that in the late eighties the artist moved out and his former home evolved into the Foundation Cesar Manrique.

Many travelers and tourists are now selecting to stay in more rural accommodation, the serenity as well as the tranquillity that this kind of holiday accommodation provides is usually quite definitely complemented by the relaxing and relaxed feel of the small villages and towns that comprise the rural interior.

In a time warp of its own you will still stumble on neighborhood farmers using donkeys to plough their fields ever so often, whilst many others produce wines in their own small bodegas using extremely interesting techniques, with the vines being harvested inside spherical beds hollowed out from the dark-colored volcanic picon and surrounded by small stone walls to protect them from the arid dry wind.

If you’re planning to visit the Canary Isles on a summer holiday trip or possibly a winter season break Lanzarote could possibly be the perfect vacation spot for your requirements.
