Newly released headlines from the Canary Islands has focused on volcanic activity occurring just out to sea from El Hierro, resulting in a minor and almost casual localized evacuation. However , on the other side of the island chain, Lanzarote which is every bit as volcanic, continues to be dormant and peaceful.

This definitely wasn’t the case a couple of centuries ago however, as Lanzarote was actually exposed to the longest continuous eruption in the record books, whilst its neighbors continued in blissful calm. Happily this period of seismic devastation has been taken advantage of by the islands tourist sector, with a particular dormant volcano actually being used in order to power a restaurants bbq.

Plus the most in-demand attraction, namely the volcano park at Timanfaya, showcases just how tumultuous volcanic eruptions could very well be. Wherever holiday makers look they’ll see huge craters, lava streams, rock faces that appear to be like melted wax and huge lava bombs that have been tossed through the air.

Even beyond the perimeter of Timanfaya there is a landscape just as interesting, in which the La Geria wine region makes use of even older volcanic slopes in comparison to the craters at Timanfaya. It goes without saying that the ultimate way to experience this unique region is usually by car, considering that Lanzarote car hire won’t break the bank, and you’ll be able to take full advantage of the tranquil rural roads along with the islands magnificent scenery.

The fact is that whilst Lanzarote is a superb sunshine vacation location, lying down at the edge of the pool or on one of Lanzarote’s excellent beaches isn’t the only thing holiday makers might like to do during their stay. Quite a few may decide to visit the consistently spectacular but altogether distinctive northern half of this tropical isle too.

What logically turns out to be the reality is often that two to three relaxing days making use of amenities at any one of the Lanzarote hotels is enough for quite a few tourists, who will then need a change of scene, commonly outside the resort . And for all those Lanzarote has numerous completely unique cultural attractions and places of interest to check out.

Every one of these was conceived by a local artist known as César Manrique, whose imaginative reputation scooped him plaudits in Spain and also on Lanzarote. And yet regardless of the rise in popularity of the area with English holiday-makers and the short time of Lanzarote flights, this ingenious artist truth be told continues to be virtually unknown in England.

Thankfully that scarcity of knowledge is quickly countered as travelers to Lanzarote normally become hooked by his design style and are often eager discover other examples of his work. Which can sometimes without difficulty completely transform the holiday into a mini cultural expedition of Manrique´s works and his architectural developments , rather than simply a few weeks on a sun bed.

Agistri Hotels: Options to Consider

Located near Greece Mainland is a tiny island called Agistri, with about a population of 1000 people. The lack of dense population ensures that the island remains preserved and natural beauty remains intact. Being a famous tourist destination, it houses a number of hotels of a wide variety to serve its loyal tourist clientele.

Primary Factor: Budget

Prior to selecting one of the many Agistri hotels for lodging during a trip, it is essential to consider a number of factors. The first factor is whether the per night cost of stay at a hotel is within one’s budget; once this is established the choices remaining will be fewer and the decision can be made easily. The charges per night are in direct relation with the number of conveniences offered to its guests.

The number of surprises can be reduced if the internet and the hotels’ official websites are used to learn more about the services. The choice can be made from amongst apartments, suites and singular bedrooms. During off season, there are usually special packages available to attract tourists. Most hotels are small and limited rooms means that it is best all bookings are completed in advance to ensure the appointment, especially when travelling on a tight schedule.

Secondary Factor: Location

Another key factor to consider is the location of the hotel. Since it is a small island, most Agistri hotels are located close to the shore. The beaches differ on account of their facilities and amenities and thus location becomes an important factor as well. On average, most commute can be undertaken on foot, but for individuals unable to do so might prefer to choose their hotel location carefully or incur a cost for hired taxis. The Agistri Island can be accessed from virtually all sides via boats and water taxis.

One should pick the right Hotels on Island Agistri to fully enjoy the facilities on offer by Agistri Island.

As summer wraps up its time to start thinking about the approaching Christmas period, but that does not signify this is all the sun we will be experiencing this year as there are some excellent sunshine destinations not to far from home including of course the Canarian island of Lanzarote, famous for its outstanding climatic conditions..

Whilst the primary attraction of a holiday here may very well be weather, do not forget to investigate the other aspects of the island too. Lanzarote also features an extraordinary and rich tapestry of local charm and culture starting from the carnival season through to the sporting events later in the year. Also on top of the many year round events , in the event of any dull or cloudy weather (which is a rarity), there are a huge number of other attraction to enjoy come rain, wind or shine. Lanzarote Tourist Attractions

If you are planning ahead for next year however do bear in mind that June is an excellent time to take your vacation as is can be considerably cheaper than the high season and it also a time when the islands most creative events takes place which is Corpus Christi.. Corpus Christi is without doubt one of the most colourful festivals that take place on the island and is celebrated by the creation of extraordinarily unique and wildly creative carpets of coloured salt which depict many of the important biblical scenes.

Whilst finding the best accommodation can be difficult in the summer months later in the seasons really opens up choice when it comes to the more popular Lanzarote holiday apartments and villas, but choosing the right accommodation always comes down to three main factors, size of party, location and of course budget. If you prefer flexibility and privacy on your holiday then a villa will prove to be ideal as apartments tend to be in complexes, and you’ll also find that many have their own pool, although you may want to check to see if this is heated if your coming in the cooler season. Please note though, it may be quieter in the winter months but don’t fall in to the trap of thinking that there will be no competition for the best ones.

Deciding where to stay comes next on the agenda of course although this may already be decided if specific accommodation has already been chosen? If friends or relatives have visited before then they may have made recommendations, but if your still unsure here are a few key questions to ask yourself. Do you want the hustle and bustle of a busy resort with plenty of night-life or do you enjoy peace and quiet?. Not everything centres around the main resorts and a little searching on the internet will reward you by exposing some of the more rural locations available which are ideal for a romantic break.

Playa Blanca villas often offer better value for money than in other resorts on the island thanks to its excellent mix of bars , restaurants and outstanding accommodation. additionally the resort is home to some spectacular stretches of sand. Such as Playa Dorada, Playa Flamingo and the small town beach of Playa Blanca – from which this destination takes its name.

Costa Teguise is a good choice too, being developed as an upmarket resort during the 1980´s – attracting well heeled tourists from Germany and Scandinavia initially. – Costa Teguise´s excellent beaches and wide open plan feel helped to establish this as the second most popular spot on the island during the 1980´s. Lanzarote tourist Information

The island of Lanzarote is often regarded as an unspoiled vacation location which continues to charm visitors year after year with the result that many return again and again.

Famous for its natural beauty, the Rhodes Island has some beautiful beaches and an attractive culture and folk traditions.

For Rhodes Holidays, the tourists and visitors find everything on Rhodes Island that they are looking for, from modern facilities to natural conditions of the place. One of the must see attractions for nature lovers that come to Rhodes Island for Rhodes Holidays is the Greek mountains found here.

Many tourists that come to Rhodes for their Rhodes Holidays enjoy walking tours by visiting the Greek mountains. You will find ample facilities for travelling and hiking as well as lodging and entertainment as you visit the mountainous areas of the Rhodes Island.

Here we have given a brief account of different mountains of Rhodes:

Ataviros Mountain:

The Ataviros Mountain is at the highest altitude in the Rhodes. The large mountain overlooks several small mountain villages in the area. The Mountain is situated at the junction of the Aghios Isidoros village and the Embonas village. This lush green mountain, at times completely bathed in sunshine or hidden in clouds has now become a timeless symbol of Rhodes. The scenery from the peak of the Mountain Ataviros is very serene, beautiful and awe-inspiring, as one looks down the view is breathtakingly great.

Furthermore, on the top of the mountain one can find the ruins of an old temple that was dedicated to god Zeus.

Mountain Akramitis:

The Mountain Akramitis has the second highest altitude among all Rhodes Mountains. It has an altitude of 850 m and is covered by pine trees. Like the Ataviros Mountain this mountain is accessible only on foot.

If you make it to the top of the mountain, you get to see spectacular views of the island. People also like the place for taking pictures of its beautiful sceneries.

Prophitis Ilias Mountain:

Prophitis Ilias Mountain is a forested mountain with an altitude of about 800 meter. The Mountain is almost in the middle of the Island adjacent to the Apollona town .

The mountain seems to be covered with trees of Cypress and Calabrian pines. Here you will find a huge variety of flora like the rare white peony, anemones, endemic, cyclamens and different kind of orchids.

Once can find snakes, lizards and a variety of butterflies on this mountain too. Birds like coocoos, honey buzzards, long legged buzzards and woodlarks are found abundantly on the Prophitis Ilias Mountain.

The 4th century BC temple devoted to goddess Athena, Acropolis of Lindos is situated on Rhodes Island. It is a famous site on Rhodes Island and is visited by many tourists during Rhodes Holidays. Hiring Lindos taxi (Donkeys) or a walk on foot can lead you to the site.

History:

According to traditional views the religious group that worshiped goddess Athena Lindia was pre-Hellenic but this is not supported by some findings. This site was established in the 9th century.

There are many archaeological sites in Lindos that extend outside and around the Acropolis on Rhodes Island. When you come for Rhodes Holidays to Acropolis of Lindos, you must no miss visiting these sites.

1. Theatre:

The Theatre near the Acropolis of Lindos is situated below the Athena Temple on the south-western side of the hill. This theatre along with its circular auditorium and orchestra is a major source of attraction for various tourists. The honorary seats and proedries for officials around the orchestra are present even today. The place above auditorium’s diazoma and above that place carries 7 and 19 seats respectively. The theatre could accommodate about eighteen hundred spectators at a time.

2. Four-Portico Building:

During Rhodes holidays, you can even visit the infrastructure of Four-Portico in the Acropolis of Lindos. A slanting roof is supported by four columns on all four sides and surrounding a small open air square. Four-Portico building’s entrance is on the north western side with slab carrier row of columns. The building was mostly used for religious functions and ceremonies in the past.

3. Tomb of Kleoboulos:

The Tomb of Kleoboulos is a circular building that belonged to a rich family. It has masonry and a domed roof. Beautiful moulding of plaster and Palmettes make its entrance more attractive.

The wall paintings and the Ayios Aimilianos name give evidence that it was converted to a Christian church later.

4. Boukopion:

Boukopion known as the place of sacrifices is situated towards the northeast of the Acropolis. One can find about thirty eight writings on rocks that help recognizing the place.

5. The Archokrateion:

The surroundings of Acropolis carries a number of cemeteries. One of the important funerary monuments is the Archokrateion. Towards the hill west side of Acropolis and in the surrounding area of Kampana at Krana you will find a rock cut tomb.

The exterior part of Archokrateion is divided into two stories. The upper portion carries four columns bartering blind openings and the fround floor possesses half posts bearing a slab with triglyphs and metopes.

On the ground floor there are funerary religious structures having the name inscribed on the bases. The inner passage will take you to the place of burial rituals. There are about nineteen graves cut into the chamber walls. The plaster panels are exchanges with the pillars inside the hall.

The modern name of the place suggests that it was a church during the medieval times. Besides the beauty of other infrastructures near Lindos’ Acropolis, this place is worth seeing for toutists.
