Visiting Fuerteventura

The island of fuerteventura has become increasingly popular over recent years with a major increase in tourism.

A well known winter holiday destination as well as summer, with temperatures reaching as high as thirty-two in the summer and mid 20s in the winter months, people from all around the world are discovering the island.

Neighbouring islands of Tenerife, Gran Canaria and Lanzarote have always been a popular choice, even so with the recent growth and development of Fuerteventura with a water park now in the North and numerous shopping centres in other resorts, Fuerteventura is now as popular as the other islands.

For beach lovers wetter fuerteventura is really a must. The annual wind surfing competitions are found in the South and whatever form of aquatic sports you are into can be located in either Corralejo, Costa Caleta and Morro Jable.

Families and couples love visiting Fuerteventura and the holiday resort of Caleta de Fuste was built with children in mind. The man made beach is a safe place for children to relax and play while adults take it easy on the beach and there are lots of activities including trampolines, archery, tennis, mini golf, play parks and a sand school to keep them amused.

In the North, Corralejo boasts a new water park and theme park and again a good amount of children’s parks and activities.

In both resorts restaurants offering food from around the world is available, however a drive inland will provide among the better restaurants on the island serving traditional Canarian cuisine at very low prices.

The streets of Fuerteventura are reasonably quiet, and the resident goats can be found wandering the wasteland and inland roads so drive carefully!

Fuerteventura has some fantastic scenery and although still much less developed as the other Canary Islands, makes a great holiday destination for both couples and families.
