Stay In Manchester’s Vibrant Heart for All Your Short Breaks
Manchester: A City of Culture in 2010.
Manchester’ s enticing programme of year round events, tempts tourists and locals alike to visit. The city has always been a center of artistic innovation, and in the last ten years the cultural scene has blossomed, rejuvenating parts of the city and drawing in thousands of visitors a year. Enjoy the following two events this year in Manchester.
Tenth Birthday at The Lowry.
The Lowry Art and Entertainment space in Manchester is a draw to all who love the visual and performing arts. The centre opened on 28th April 2000, so this year marks its 10th birthday—a milestone that is being celebrated with a special program of events, including a huge community project called Unlocking Salford Quays and a family festival in June. From kids art workshops to Glenn Campbell to international artists to The Orchard to musicals, you are sure to find something that inspires at The Lowry. Spencer Tunick’s photographs of naked volunteers in eight different locations in Manchester has started the celebrations with gusto! The photos reflect Lowry’s paintings. That sure drew a crowd!
Manchester Literature Festival 2010.
There’s also the Manchester Literature Festival, which takes place from 14th – 25th October 2010. Visitors for a few days or more will be rewarded by a wide spread of literary events in various locations across the city. People new to the city will be able to meet writers galore at this year’s festival: disappointment is not to be brooked!
The crowds of visitors generated by so many events require overnight accommodation,
… normally hotels or B and Bs. A rising trend amongst those ‘in the know’ is to stay in serviced apartments in Manchester city centre. After a fun packed day, serviced apartments allow their guests time to calm down in light, spacious and comfortable surroundings.
Which location in Manchester for serviced apartments?
Piccadilly is right at the heart of the action in central Manchester. It offers dramatic city scapes and some of the most sumptuous serviced apartments in the city. As Piccadilly is also the site for the city’s main train station, the serviced apartments here are very easy to access. Alight from the train, trip across the Curve Bridge, avoiding the heavy traffic, and you arrive at your accommodation. Why look anywhere else?
